Kelli works in publishing as a Graphic Designer. She is a Florida native but currently lives in Brooklyn with her vast collection of junky miniatures and her angelic cat Penelope. She enjoys binge-listening to podcasts, eating dessert in bed, and talking shit about basically everything. She self-identifies as a disgusting feminist snowflake. Please note: Kelli is the only person here without a graduate degree of any kind. Don't take her seriously.
Emily has an MFA and is currently working on her PhD in Creative Writing (Fiction), but her proudest accomplishment is being the mother of the two most beautiful cats the world has ever seen. She's also a red panda and unicorn enthusiast. In her spare time, Emily also enjoys watching Are You the One? and Catfish, singing the Moana soundtrack, drinking La Croix, watching horror movies, and thinking about cats some more. Also, she likes cats.
Susan has a PhD in Creative Writing (Poetry) and no plans to be a professor. She is the author of the chapbook The Singing Is My Favorite Part (Etched Press, 2015), and she works as a copy writer for an advertising agency. When she's not at work, Susan is listening to one of the bajillion podcasts she subscribes to, talking about true crime to anyone who will listen, looking up real estate she can't afford, hiking with her husband and dogs, or celebrating an obscure Jewish holiday.
Mary first realized she loved reading when she won Accelerated Reader of the Year in elementary school. She is currently studying children's literature and disability studies, but she loves literature of all sorts. She spends most of her time hanging out with her two children (who happen to be cats), playing video games, watching movies, and generally enjoys pop culture. Her aesthetic is Oscar Isaac pillows.
Penelope Ezra Clearwater is a 6-year-old indoor kitten living large in Brooklyn, New York. She has been physically compared to both Audrey Hepburn and one (if not all) of Daenerys Targaryen's baby dragons. When she isn't sleeping or posing for photographs, she enjoys chewing on plastic broom bristles and knocking expensive things to the ground on purpose. She despises road travel, salt & vinegar potato chips, being locked out of rooms, and her roommate Fig, who, by Penelope's contractual request, will not receive a site bio.
Josie Monkey Puddingston (aka Pud, aka the Pea, aka Sir) hails from the streets of Bankhead in Atlanta, GA. He is not messing around when it comes to sleeping and eating food. He is a serious alpha cat and he is not here to tolerate your funny business. His interests are food, cereal milk, pillows, shoes, blankets, ruining Cersei's fun, pushing Cersei out of the way to steal her water, knocking Cersei out of her comfortable window seat, and being brushed. His favorite New Orleans Saints football player is Mark Ingram.
Cersei Anne, or the C, or Cerseila Anastasia Boleynista Lannister, or Celine, is a chair aficionado. There's really nothing in the world this cat appreciates more than a good chair. When not hugging her favorite desk chair, Cersei can be found sitting in the window singing Disney Princess "I want" songs to herself. If she's not in a chair or in a window, she's jumping on the Pea or otherwise attempting to provoke the beast. Her vocal talents can be heard on the Book Squad Goal's latest (and only) song "Book Squad Goals."
Roger is probably a pit bull mixed with a bunch of other stuff. He was abandoned twice and had a hard-knock life before Susan fell in love with him at first sight. They've been best buds since 2012. He enjoys hoarding tennis balls, taunting the chipmunks that live in his backyard, and going to work with Susan to see all his human pals.
Mabel is half Boston Terrier and half Basenji. She came from Missouri on a plane to live with Susan and her husband in December 2012. She hates rain, fireworks, loud noises of any kind, and when another dog steals her bone. She loves to burrow in small spaces to sleep, jump on your chest in the morning, and lick Hattie's face.
Hattie was an impulse adoption for Susan's husband's birthday in 2014. She was small and wrinkly and too cute to resist, so they took her home. She is probably mostly Rhodesian Ridgeback, but who really knows? She is terrified of feet, and she loves hiking, rolling in grass, and trolling the kitchen for dropped cheese.
Edward B. Fluffytail Specialties: eating, sleeping in weird positions, voicing his displeasure Favorite position: flat on his back with paws up in the air
Edward was adopted in 2011 from the Statesboro Humane Society after his first family brought him back to the shelter. Even though he was shaved and weird looking, Mary fell for him when she first held him and he began purring. Six years later, Edward is still a fluffy, cuddly mess. He loves to sleep on the bed, make biscuits, and knock things off of high places. One time he climbed into the attic and cried for an hour because he couldn’t figure out how to get down.
Patrina “The Nisha Call” Koenig Specialties: Screaming, running very fast, hunting Favorite position: in a small nugget loaf, all legs tucked in
Patrina roamed around Mary’s apartment complex for a month. Though many people called her complex office, no one wanted to claim this beautiful gray cat. Though she initially intended to take Patrina to the local no-kill shelter, Mary couldn’t get rid of this gray baby. Edward hates her, and Patrina is still scared of many things, but she is learning more about living inside and being good all the time! Patrina has a loud meow that sounds like a scream and will have conversations with anyone who wants to speak with her.
